HON BOLAJI SAHEED BADMOS, THE RELIABLE MOUTHPIECE OF YOUTHS

In the political history of Nigeria, especially during the pre-independence and independence era, majority of the stakeholders who championed Nigeria’s independence from the colonial masters were youths.

The likes of Obafemi Awolowo, Nnamdi Azikwe, Ahmadu Bello, Tafawa Balewa, Anthony Enahoro, Mbazulike Amaechi, Richard Akinjide, among others were in their 30s and 40s when they held leadership positions at regional and national level.

But today, there seem to be paradigm shift as majority of public office holders are now people in their 60s and 70s, without the voice of the youths being heard in governance again.

Now that there is a clarion calls for youth inclusion in governance, one man that is leading the pack of Nigerian youth in the quest for a better Nigeria is Honourable Bolaji Saheed Badmos.

Hon. BJ, a young, politically savvy and equally vocal businessman and politician, seems to have personally taken it upon himself, the responsibility of representing the Nigerian youths in local, state and national discourse by vehemently pushing some views that are gaining widespread acceptance.

And lending his voice on critical local, State and national issues has made him to become a news maker. He is driven by a passion, mission and vision to see Nigeria at its best.

His desire is simply to be able to contribute to national development as a stakeholder.
He believes that “There are so many issues that will eventually affect the Nigerian youths if their decisions are not properly analysed and discussed as ways to ensure they take right decisions always, and that is one of his purposes of being in politics.

He is also an unrepentant advocate of peace and unity in Nigeria, not agreeing with anyone proposing a dismemberment of the country. Hon BJ as a fearless man has publicly expressed his view on issues that many people are afraid to speak about.

It is no surprising therefore that Hon. BJ vehemently threw  his weight behind the Not Too Young To Run bill saying it is time for young people to take charge of key elective positions in Nigeria.

According to him, any Nigerian irrespective of age should be allowed to seek elective office as long as the individual “is of sound mind and meets the constitutional and educational criteria”

In his words “I am in total support of this bill (Not Too Young To Run) . As long as a man or woman is sound of mind and meets the constitutional and educational criteria, why can’t they run?

How old was John F. Kennedy when he won his first election?”
“ Have you  seen the age of the French cabinet?
That to me is very laughable. Let’s come to Africa here. How old was the architect of modern Ghana,  Jerry Rawlings? The list goes on and on”.
So,  it’s about time fresh blood is injected into the system”.

There is no doubt that Hon BJ has a lot to offer Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency if given a representative ticket to contribute his quota as a young Nigerian, because not only does he have so much to say about Nigeria, his party and issues of leadership, he exudes an aura of a young man itching to make a difference in the area of his Constituency, state and national development and unity.
