2018 IS GOING TO BE A GREATER YEAR --- HON. NIYI ADEAGBO

All Glory to Almighty God for His Mercy and Grace; for He only deserves my limitless praises. 

I must also mention my benefactor, the man who said YES to me when the powerful ones said No. The father who adopted me without knowing my biological parents, the C.A, Sen.(Dr.) Abiola Ajimobi; I will forever be grateful sir. 

2017 was an extraordinary year and saw a lot of exciting developments not only in Itesiwaju LGA but also in our dear Oyo State.

It was a great year. But honestly, it was a tough one too as a result of economic recession. Despite economic challenges coupled with the paucity of funds which hindered us to actualise majority of our masses-oriented projects, we were still able to move forward in all sectors. 

The welfare of Staff is always a point of emphasis for Our Governor and over time we have made sure we adhere strongly with it,am happy to state here, as at on the 28th, December salary of civil servant in Itesiwaju LGA was paid.

And for many families, making ends meet is so difficult at this time. So to anyone starting this New Year with questions about where we are heading and what the future holds, I want to reassure you of this: we are on the right track, 2018 is going to be a better year, Insha Allah. On all the big issues that matter to Itesiwaju LGA, Oyo State and Nigeria at large, we are heading in the right direction. Let's keep the hope alive!! 

Meanwhile, I must thank my good people in Itesiwaju LGA, my leaders, members of APC, my political colleagues and the friends of our great council for your continued support. The management team and also to the rest of the staff in the council, thank you also for your constructive inputs. All of you worked extremely hard throughout the just concluded year, allowing Itesiwaju LGA to progress much more quickly than I could have imagined. 

Hold me by my words, My Word! My Bond! 

We already have exciting economic and developmental plans for 2018. In the first quarter of this year, we've prepared and 100% ready to actualise the following:

EDUCATION: 
*Commencement of work on the construction of a block of classrooms at Adjet komu. 

*Completion of Self-Help block of classrooms at Community Primary School, Gbonkan -Ipapo;

*Activation and equipping of Primary School, Ajebandele - Babaode;

*Equipping some of our basic schools with furniture.

*Free exercise books are ready for distribution to students as usual

HEALTH:
*Upgrading of the Primary Health Center in Otu. 
*Our free drugs to all Health centers will continue

*Equipping all primary health centers in the council area with basic needs. 

SECURITY & ENERGY:
*Improved community policing
*Electrification extension, which include Alaga Village and the rest of the major towns.

INFRASTRUCTURE:
*Construction of new roads across the seven towns of the council.
*Rehabilitation of bad roads
*Repair of all moribund boreholes
*Digging of wells in villages for drinking and agricultural purposes
*Opening of a connecting road from Ofiki bridge (Atisbo South LCDA) to Igbojaye (Itesiwaju LGA).

YOUTH & WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
*NEPAD Nigeria delegation will be visiting to inspect our skill acquisition and entrepreneur training facilities marked out for resuscitations.

*Befitting empowerment programme for our youth and women.

OLUBADAN CHIEFTAINCY: I AM DISAPPOINTED AT JUDGMENT, SAYS OBA LEKAN BALOGUN

The Otun Olubadan of Ibadan land, High Chief Lekan Balogun , has described the invalidation of 21 Ibadan kings ’ installations as disappointing, stressing that there is nothing to contest in the 1957 Olubadan Chieftaincy Declaration review because nothing has changed . In a verdict delivered by Justice Olajumoke Aiki of an Ibadan High Court on Friday, the court ruled that Governor Abiola Ajimobi, who ordered the review and installation of the 21 kings on August 27 , 2017 , acted beyond his constitutional powers . Balogun , who was among the Ibadan high chiefs and baales that had their status elevated to kings , told our correspondent that Ajimobi, who initiated the move , was only demonstrating his eagerness to promote Ibadan city and elevate its chieftaincy system without changing the structure. The lingering crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State on Tuesday took another dimension as a faction within the party, APC Unity Forum, announced its decision to leave the party for another one where its interest would be protected. Public Relations Officer (PRO), of the faction, Mr. Wasiu Olawale Sadare made his statement. News recalls that the party, in the last couple of months, has been enmershed in crisis over which of the faction will have the control of the soul of the party. The popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as Kwam 1, has confirmed the death of one of his daughters, Wasilat. Wasilat died in Canada after a brief illness. The deceased, said to be 34 years old, reportedly died in the early hours of Tuesday from complications arising from diabetes. On Thursday, Kwam 1 extolled the virtues of his late daughter while saying he accepts her death as the will of Allah. POPULAR JOURNALIST, ORIYOMI HAMZAT, FREED FROM SSS COUSTODY

 A popular Ibadan-based broadcaster, Oriyomi Hamzat, has been released from the custody of the State Security Service (SSS), where he was detained for weeks. Mr Hamzat, who owns Agidigbo radio station in Ibadan, was detained at the SSS office in Ibadan on August 1. He was later transferred to the Abuja office of the agency. Individuals and groups, like the Association of Nigerian Comrades (ANC), have clamoured for the release of the broadcaster whose arrest was seen as unlawful and an infringement on press freedom. Narrating how he was arrested, the general manager of Agidigbo radio station, Ismail Idowu, said the SSS officers visited the radio station on July 31, demanding to see Mr Hamzat. There are indications that former governor of Oyo state, Senator Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, former vice chairman, Senate Committee on Poverty Alleviation, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, former chairman, Senate committee on Banking and Financial institutions, Senator Ayoade Adeseun and other stalwarts of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have concluded plans to dump the party today – Thursday. OLUBADAN: MOGAJIS ISSUE SEVEN-DAY ULTIMATUM TO 21 IBADAN KINGS

The Ibadan M ogajis (family heads) , under the aegis of Council of Authentic Ibadan Mogajis, have issued a seven -day ultimatum to the 21 kings installed by the Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, to withdraw their threat to recommend Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji , for removal or face the wrath of Ibadan people . The 21 kings , who were on August 27 , 2017 installed by the governor , had on Monday given a 21 -day ultimatum to the monarch to be of good conduct or risk being removed from the throne.
