CONSULT BEFORE GIVING LAND OUT FOR RANCHES PROF. AKANDE ADVISES AJIMOBI

A gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo State, Prof. Adeolu Akande has advised the governor of Oyo State to consult host communities before he gives out their land for ranches. Prof Akande said ownership of  land is such an emotive issue that, if not well handled, could generate a  backlash in violence and destruction which will outweigh the economic advantages of such ranches. Akande said land ownership is at the root of many communal clashes that have claimed thousands of lives and invaluable destruction across the country. Oyo State was recently listed among states  that had indicated interest in granting land to the federal government for the construction of ranches. EEGUN FESTIVAL: OLUBADAN & IBADAN KINGS DISAGREE ON DIRECTIVE

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji and members of the Olubadan -In- Council, turned obas have disagreed on the order of the Olubadan barring the masquerades from dancing in any of the High Chiefs residence in this years Egungun festival. The Olubadan, in a statement suspended the visit of egungun to any of the High Chiefs, citing security reasons for his action. But, in a counter move, the concerned high chiefs-turned beaded kings had kicked against the Olubadan instruction, describing it as arbitrary use of power and an attempt to fight tradition. In a statement signed by the Otun Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Lekan Balogun, on behalf of others after their meeting on Monday, the kings insisted that they would resist the order and host masqueraders in their various homes. OYO APC CRISIS:: AJIMOBI & OSINBAJO HAVE CLOSED-DOOR MEETING IN IBADAN

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state on Friday declined comments after a meeting held behind closed doors at the Oyo State Governor’s Office, Agodi secretariat, Ibadan. Osinbajo, who arrived the governor’s office at about 3.30pm in company of the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Abiodun Odude and the State Director of State Services, Mr Abdullahi Kure declined to speak with journalists after the meeting. BARR. SHITTU BLASTS AJIMOBI OVER APC FAILURE IN OYO STATE

The Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, has blamed Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi for the recent failures of the All Progressives Party (APC) in the state. In a letter addressed to the APC National Chairman, Mr Shittu said the “undemocratic” actions of the governor had cost the APC dearly as it has lost every election in the state since 2015 when Mr Ajimobi was reelected – a victory he claimed was made possible by the unity of purpose, commitment and resilience of members who campaigned for him. CORRUPT INEC OFFICIALS IN OYO STATE TO BE PROSECUTED

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), who are found to be corrupt, risk being sacked and prosecuted, Mr Mutiu Agboke, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Oyo State, has said. Agboke who gave the warning on Tuesday in Ibadan at the maiden Ramadan lecture organised by the commission, said that INEC would not hesitate in sacking and prosecuting any of its staff involved in corrupt practices. The theme of the lecture was “ Free, Fair and Credible Election – Role of INEC from Islamic Perspective.’’ Agboke said the mandate of the commission was to make election processes transparent, impartial, credible, free and fair. ”INEC has no interest in any of the political parties but to carry out its constitutional responsibilities. The lingering crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State on Tuesday took another dimension as a faction within the party, APC Unity Forum, announced its decision to leave the party for another one where its interest would be protected. Public Relations Officer (PRO), of the faction, Mr. Wasiu Olawale Sadare made his statement. News recalls that the party, in the last couple of months, has been enmershed in crisis over which of the faction will have the control of the soul of the party. The two warring factions battling for the soul of the party are the one loyal to the state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi known as SENACO and the one loyal to a former governor of the state, Alhaji Lamidi Adesina known as LAMISTS now called Unity Forum. This followed the inauguration of the newly -elected chairmen of the various state chapters of the APC by the outgoing National Chairman , Chief John Odigie -Oyegun , at the party ’s National Secretariat , in Abuja , on Monday . Ado-Ekiti – A former governorship aspirant in the All Progressive Congress in Ekiti State, Michael Opeyemi Bamidele was shot by yet to be identified gunmen in Ado Ekiti, this evening. Rep. Opeyemi Bamidele MOB as popularly called was shot at the APC Secretariat in Ado Ekiti and has been rushed to the hospital just as his condition remains unknown. Bamidele who arrived Ado-Ekiti from Abuja along with the APC candidate, Dr Kayode Fayemi a couple of hours ago. The bullets of the gunmen also hit another member of the party in the chest. According to a Nollywood actress in Ibadan, the actress who retired from BCOS in 2010 is survived by 5 children. Her Islamic burial rite is ongoing at her home in Akobo Ojurin as at the time of this report. Late Motunrayo Adeoye was popular for her role in Igbekun (Bondage), a movie produced by Kunle Afod.
