OYO 2019: BAYO ADELABU RESIGNS FROM CBN

President Muhammadu Buhari has formally accepted the disengagement of the Deputy Governor in charge of Operations at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, with effect from July 15, 2018. In a letter dated May 24, 2018 and personally signed by him, President Buhari thanked Mr. Adelabu for his services to the country and wished him the best in his future ambitions. “While appreciating your services in the Central Bank of Nigeria since 9th April 2014, I wish you the very best in your future ambitions and continued commitment to public service in our country and specifically, as you seek to play a more active role in politics, in your home State,” the letter stated. Mr. Adelabu formally assumed duty as Deputy Governor at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on April 9, 2014 and served at different times as Deputy Governor in charge of Financial System Stability (FSS), Corporate Services (CS), and lastly Operations (Ops), before he tendered his letter of disengagement

COURT STRIKES OUT OLUBADAN'S SUIT AGAINST OSUN STATE GOVERNMENT

A Federal High Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, presided over by Justice Ayo Emmanuel, has struck out the suit filed by the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Akanmu and others against the State Government of Osun and Iwo Local Government. According to a release by the State of Osun Ministry of Justice Information Officer, Opeyemi Bello, the Olubadan had approached the Court, claiming that the paramount ruler of Ibadanland has native control over the Ogboru town which is presently under the control of Iwo Local Government in the State. He had also claimed that Lagelu Local Government Area in Oyo State has territorial jurisdiction over Ogburo and its environs that fall on the same side of Odo Oba river in the State of Osun. President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday advised Nigerian youths to postpone their presidential ambitions till after 2019. Buhari, who has declared his interest in seeking re-election during the 2019 elections, gave the advice shortly after signing Not-Too-Young-to-Run Bill into law at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. He described the bill as a landmark law, noting that the bill showed that the youth can achieve anything they conceive if they work hard at it. The new law lowers the constitutional age limits for aspirants to presidential and legislative positions in the country, as clamoured for by majority of young Nigerians. It reduces the age qualification for the office of the President from 40 years to 30 years; House of Representatives from 30 to 25; and State House of Assembly from 30 to 25. EFCC WITNESSES HOW LADOJA "STOLE" OYO STATE'S SHARE AS PART OF #4.7 BILLION FRAUD

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ((EFCC) has told the Federal High Court in ikoyi, Lagos, how Rasheedi Ladoja, a former Governor of Oyo State, allegedly stole part of the state’s shares. The EFCC’s witness, Mr Abubakar Madaki, said on Wednesday that the commission discovered that Quarter 361, a residential apartment allegedly owned by Ladoja, was purchased by one Atanda on behalf of the former Governor, with the proceeds of shares from Heritage Apartments. Madaki, also an operative of the EFCC, gave the testimony at the trial of Ladoja and a former Commissioner for Finance in the state, Waheed Akanbi — both standing trial over N4.7billion fraud. The witness further told the court that investigations were extended to the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to unravel the identity of another company named Bistrum Investment Ltd, which was also used in the transfer of Oyo State funds. OYHA BY-ELECTION: 7 PARTIES TO CONTEST

The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) says seven political parties have been cleared to participate in the Ibarapa State Constituency by- election billed for Saturday. Mr Mutiu Agboke , the Resident Electoral Commissioner(REC ) in Oyo State , disclosed this in Eruwa on Wednesday at a stakeholders meeting on the by-election. According to Agboke, the parties are Accord Party, Peoples Democratic Party, All Progressives Congress and Fresh Democratic Party. Others, he said, are Hope Democratic Party, Nigerian Peoples Congress and Mega Party of Nigeria. He further disclosed that the by-election would be conducted in 140 polling units across the 10 registration areas in the constituency. RECKLESS DRIVER CRUSHES STUDENTS IN IBADAN

A driver of one of the Oyo State -owned mass transit buses, popularly known as Ajumose , escaped death in Mokola area of Ibadan on Wednesday after he was attacked by a mob for killing a secondary school pupil . The unidentified driver was said to have also injured some other pupils in the accident that happened after schools closed for the day . An eyewitness , Isaac Ajibade , said the bus was damaged by the mob , who seized the driver before he could escape from the scene. He said , “ The traffic was light and there were many pupils who were going home. Suddenly, the bus appeared and hit the pupils , killing a secondary school girl immediately. Passengers in the bus quickly alighted but the driver was grabbed by the angry mob . He was beaten before the police came to rescue him from the mob . ” The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer , Adekunle Ajisebutu , who confirmed the accident, said the driver was recovering at Police Hospital in Eleyele , Ibadan .
