POPULAR JOURNALIST, ORIYOMI HAMZAT, FREED FROM SSS COUSTODY

 A popular Ibadan-based broadcaster, Oriyomi Hamzat, has been released from the custody of the State Security Service (SSS), where he was detained for weeks. Mr Hamzat, who owns Agidigbo radio station in Ibadan, was detained at the SSS office in Ibadan on August 1. He was later transferred to the Abuja office of the agency. Individuals and groups, like the Association of Nigerian Comrades (ANC), have clamoured for the release of the broadcaster whose arrest was seen as unlawful and an infringement on press freedom. Narrating how he was arrested, the general manager of Agidigbo radio station, Ismail Idowu, said the SSS officers visited the radio station on July 31, demanding to see Mr Hamzat. The manager, along with three others who are interns at the broadcast office, were arrested and broadcast equipment at the office were taken by the officers afterwards. “For the whole day we searched for Hamzat and we could not find him. ASIWAJU GIVES OUT 30 CARS TO 30 COMMUNITY LEADERS IN OSHODI

The central city of Lagos, Oshodi was in awe as the custodian of the western region, Asiwaju, Bola Ahmed Tinubu doled out no fewer than 30 new exotic cars to the stakeholders in the community.  The gift came at the eve of Eid-Il-Fitri, on Monday, August 20, 2018. The cars which delivery was taken by the stakeholders of the party, APC structure, was said to be a gift to appreciate the front liners in Oshodi for their tireless support and contribut ion towards moving Lagos State forward. Asiwaju has also been commended for his tireless effort in keeping Lagos state together, since the first republic and sustaining the mutual relationships among party members.

RECONSTRUCT IBADAN, IWO, OSOGBO ROADS - - OLUWO TELLS FG

Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul-Rosheed Adewale Akanbi The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has called on the Minister for Works, Power and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, to begin reconstruction project on the road that links Ibadan, Iwo and Osogbo. Oba Akanbi decried the pains the road users pass through on a daily basis, along the road, due to bad state of the highway at dangerous sections. He noted that the federal road is strategic to commercial activities between the people of Osun State and Oyo State and urged the minister to consider it for rehabilitation. “Transporting goods from the farms, for instance, is difficult with its attendant effects on prices of finished products.  To discourage our youths from taking to criminalities, we need to put our infrastructural facilities in place. In addition, the poor state of the road has claimed many innocent lives.  Just yesterday, I rescued accident victims whose lives I pray God should spare,” he said.
