Oyo Nurtw: OUR LIVES ARE MORIBUND, FAGBOJURO THREATENS TO KILL US, TIPPER DRIVERS CRY TO MAKINDE

An Association of Tipper Drivers , Toll Gate Branch, Ibadan, Oyo State capital under the leadership of SAHEED MAKINDE, has raised the alarm over alleged threats from the so called cabals closer to the government.

The threat, according to the Drivers, was being perpetrated by one Otunba Seye Fagbojuro and his co-travellers after resisting their illegal tickets order.

The Drivers,however, say Mr. Seye Fagbojuro and his team have been so untouchable since the inception of the present adminstration under Governor Makinde, alleging that, they used to moving round the state for collecting illegal tolls or unauthorized revenue from Market Traders and Motor Parks, and, also issue fake receipts to justify their illegalities.

The Union wonders how Otunba Seye Fagbojuro who is neither an Official of government nor political functionary would be moving around the town with Siren escorted by about 15 Mopol when government appointees could not find living quarters.

The Drivers, who frown at the overbearing influence of Mr. Seye who they alleged have been using some of his subjects to plot to kill the henchman Mr. Saheed Makinde.

Mr. Makinde claims that, his traducers had threatened his life countless times.

The Drivers, therefore,draw the attention of Governor Seyi Makinde and other stakeholders to this alleged threat and assault, appeal to call Mr. Seye Fagbojuro and his lieutenants to order before it boomerangs or goes out of hands.

All efforts to reach Mr. Seye Fagbojuro or any of his traducers to get other side of the allegation levied against them proved abortive.

OLUBADAN CHIEFTAINCY: I AM DISAPPOINTED AT JUDGMENT, SAYS OBA LEKAN BALOGUN

The Otun Olubadan of Ibadan land, High Chief Lekan Balogun , has described the invalidation of 21 Ibadan kings ’ installations as disappointing, stressing that there is nothing to contest in the 1957 Olubadan Chieftaincy Declaration review because nothing has changed . In a verdict delivered by Justice Olajumoke Aiki of an Ibadan High Court on Friday, the court ruled that Governor Abiola Ajimobi, who ordered the review and installation of the 21 kings on August 27 , 2017 , acted beyond his constitutional powers . Balogun , who was among the Ibadan high chiefs and baales that had their status elevated to kings , told our correspondent that Ajimobi, who initiated the move , was only demonstrating his eagerness to promote Ibadan city and elevate its chieftaincy system without changing the structure. Balogun stated, “The verdict is for the governor but we are subject of the matter. Naturally , I am disappointed at the ruling because initially, there was nothing to contest.

The lingering crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State on Tuesday took another dimension as a faction within the party, APC Unity Forum, announced its decision to leave the party for another one where its interest would be protected. The popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as Kwam 1, has confirmed the death of one of his daughters, Wasilat. Wasilat died in Canada after a brief illness. The deceased, said to be 34 years old, reportedly died in the early hours of Tuesday from complications arising from diabetes. On Thursday, Kwam 1 extolled the virtues of his late daughter while saying he accepts her death as the will of Allah.  A popular Ibadan-based broadcaster, Oriyomi Hamzat, has been released from the custody of the State Security Service (SSS), where he was detained for weeks. Mr Hamzat, who owns Agidigbo radio station in Ibadan, was detained at the SSS office in Ibadan on August 1. He was later transferred to the Abuja office of the agency. Individuals and groups, like the Association of Nigerian Comrades (ANC), have clamoured for the release of the broadcaster whose arrest was seen as unlawful and an infringement on press freedom. Narrating how he was arrested, the general manager of Agidigbo radio station, Ismail Idowu, said the SSS officers visited the radio station on July 31, demanding to see Mr Hamzat. The Ibadan M ogajis (family heads) , under the aegis of Council of Authentic Ibadan Mogajis, have issued a seven -day ultimatum to the 21 kings installed by the Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, to withdraw their threat to recommend Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji , for removal or face the wrath of Ibadan people .
