OYO GUBER 2019: IBADAN MOGAJIS QUERY TINUBU’S INTEREST

The family heads in Ibadan land, under the banner of Authentic Mogajis yesterday queried the interest of the former governor of Lagos State and the National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in the gubernatorial election of Oyo state.

The group also warned a former governor of the state, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala over his recent utterances against the OSI Olubadan of Ibadanland, Cheif Rasidi Ladoja.

Akala who was the arrowhead of a recent coalition of major opposition parties had in a video while addressing his supporters said Ladoja told him that he could not become a governor because he was not an Ibadan indigene.

The former governor further said he opted out of the coalition for the interest of the yet unborn generations in his home town of Ogbomoso so that Ibadan people would stop considering themselves as the sole owner of Oyo State. 



But the authentic Mogajis in a statement issued yesterday by its spokesperson, Wale Oladoja in Ibadan, said Akala has demonstrated his hatred for the progress of Oyo State for urging the coalition to present him as a candidate when he knew he is battling with health challenges.

The statement reads in part: “We believe that Ogbomoso and Ibadan are from the same mother, therefore,  we don’t expect Akala to cause a crisis between the two ancient cities.”

“What is the interest of Tinubu in Oyo Guber politics? It is an open secret that he is instigating two brothers against each other and it is not acceptable to us. The candidates of PDP and APC are our sons and we don’t want external forces to create divisions among them.”




“Both of them are gentlemen from Ibadan but we realised that Seyi Makinde is more of a grassroots than his younger brother. Therefore we appeal to our people especially the entire Ibadan indigenes, Ibarapa, Saki,  iseyin,  Oyo and the entire people of the state to consider the closeness of Seyi Makinde to the grassroots before voting. We implore Adelabu to wait till 2023 to actualise his ambition.”

The group further said it won’t allow any individual to insult the stool of Olubadan and the High Chief Rasidi Ladoja for saying the truth to the authority.

The statement further urged the former governor to desist from any damaging statement that could put the whole of the state into jeopardy, adding that the entire people of the state aware of the deal between him and a former governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the Saturday’s Guber election. 

The family heads noted that Ladoja is a man of integrity who has a passion for the progress of his people and the state as a whole.

The Otun Olubadan of Ibadan land, High Chief Lekan Balogun , has described the invalidation of 21 Ibadan kings ’ installations as disappointing, stressing that there is nothing to contest in the 1957 Olubadan Chieftaincy Declaration review because nothing has changed . In a verdict delivered by Justice Olajumoke Aiki of an Ibadan High Court on Friday, the court ruled that Governor Abiola Ajimobi, who ordered the review and installation of the 21 kings on August 27 , 2017 , acted beyond his constitutional powers . Balogun , who was among the Ibadan high chiefs and baales that had their status elevated to kings , told our correspondent that Ajimobi, who initiated the move , was only demonstrating his eagerness to promote Ibadan city and elevate its chieftaincy system without changing the structure. Balogun stated, “The verdict is for the governor but we are subject of the matter. Naturally , I am disappointed at the ruling because initially, there was nothing to contest.

The lingering crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State on Tuesday took another dimension as a faction within the party, APC Unity Forum, announced its decision to leave the party for another one where its interest would be protected. The popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as Kwam 1, has confirmed the death of one of his daughters, Wasilat. Wasilat died in Canada after a brief illness. The deceased, said to be 34 years old, reportedly died in the early hours of Tuesday from complications arising from diabetes. On Thursday, Kwam 1 extolled the virtues of his late daughter while saying he accepts her death as the will of Allah. POPULAR JOURNALIST, ORIYOMI HAMZAT, FREED FROM SSS COUSTODY

 A popular Ibadan-based broadcaster, Oriyomi Hamzat, has been released from the custody of the State Security Service (SSS), where he was detained for weeks. Mr Hamzat, who owns Agidigbo radio station in Ibadan, was detained at the SSS office in Ibadan on August 1. He was later transferred to the Abuja office of the agency. Individuals and groups, like the Association of Nigerian Comrades (ANC), have clamoured for the release of the broadcaster whose arrest was seen as unlawful and an infringement on press freedom. Narrating how he was arrested, the general manager of Agidigbo radio station, Ismail Idowu, said the SSS officers visited the radio station on July 31, demanding to see Mr Hamzat. OLUBADAN: MOGAJIS ISSUE SEVEN-DAY ULTIMATUM TO 21 IBADAN KINGS

The Ibadan M ogajis (family heads) , under the aegis of Council of Authentic Ibadan Mogajis, have issued a seven -day ultimatum to the 21 kings installed by the Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, to withdraw their threat to recommend Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji , for removal or face the wrath of Ibadan people . The 21 kings , who were on August 27 , 2017 installed by the governor , had on Monday given a 21 -day ultimatum to the monarch to be of good conduct or risk being removed from the throne.
